Margaret Trumbull Jennings (American 1896-1983) was born in Connecticut and lived mostly in the New York City area. Alongside her sister, the noted modernist painter Alice Trumbull Mason, Jennings studied with Hans Hofmann at the Art Students League of NY and at Hofmann's school in Providence during the  1930's and 40's. She also studied in Europe with Andre L’Hote, Fernand Leger, and Amedee Ozenfant. Jenning's niece, Emily Mason (daughter of Alice Tumbull Mason), married the renowned artist Wolf Kahn. The present drawings descended in the Mason family to Emily and Wolf Kahn and were subsequently acquired from their estate.
